It’s here.
My new Macbook arrived a day earlier than originally scheduled. The FedEx guy said that it wasn’t due to come out until tomorrow but that he saw it on the shelf and figured “why don’t I just bring it by my homeboy’s place.” That was nice of him.
I’m really impressed with the finish on the new Macbook chassis – it’s carved out of a solid block of aluminum, which makes for a cleaner and more structurally sound machine. The trackpad is much larger now and made of glass, and supports all these gestures that allow you to scroll, rotate, scale and manipulate images quickly. (I usually plug a mouse in but might be convinced to to use the trackpad now.) But my favorite feature is probably the backlit keyboard. It’s pretty superfluous as I rarely use my laptop in a pitch dark setting, but it looks pretty freaking cool.

dude… awesome.

I’ve found even more features I love about it. Up by the built-in webcam is a light sensor… when you work in bright settings, the screen stays bright, but when you’re in lower light the screen dims out slightly to make it more easily viewable. Loving it.
