To me, DJ Premier is quite possibly the best producer hip hop has ever had. Trouble is, a good portion of his beats went to subpar emcees. Take Group Home for example: serviceable at best, and I’ve heard some call them straight up terrible. Yet they came away with Primo’s greatest gems…. just proves that as with anything else in life, it’s who you know. Supa Star might be Primo’s best beat ever in my opinion – it gives me chills when I hear it. It definitely makes up for Dap and Nutcracker’s verses.
