A Worthy Successor.
As mentioned previously, I’ve been looking for a replacement for my well-aged Tanner Goods cardholder. I met the guys behind Billykirk (brothers Chris and Kirk) at the Pop Up Flea this past weekend. I’ve been a fan of their work for a long time now… I remember 3+ years ago, I was looking to purchase their card case but wasn’t able to find one in NYC. Now they’re in all the right places, but their journey hasn’t been an easy one. They’ve been crafting leather goods since 1999, and I’m glad to see them finally enjoying the attention and success that their work deserves. I was glad to find they are humble and down-to-earth folks who love connecting with their customers. And as for their work… it speaks for itself – it’s all handmade in Amish Country, PA. Check out their offerings at billykirk.com.

At the Pop Up Flea, they had an entire setup dedicated to building custom bracelets and card cases. I couldn’t resist the opportunity to finally create the card case I was looking for years ago. I was able to choose the leather, the hardware, and the stitch color. Here’s what I came up with… a deep burgundy card case with antique brass snaps, natural handsewing, and a dull gunmetal chain.

I had them stamp my initials under the flap… they came out a little crooked which I think adds to the charm.

Looking forward to seeing how this leather will age over time. Thanks Chris and Kirk!
