Clarks Beeswax Desert Boot.

My Clarks Desert Boots have been worn at least once a week for the past two years, irregardless of season and weather. I’m pretty happy with how well they’ve held up (especially the crepe sole) – I haven’t cleaned or oiled them at all since I started wearing them. Here’s a photo of what they looked like brand new.

While it might seem strange to wax poetic over a pair of $80 shoes, I’ve really gotten some great wear out of these. They’ve seen more use than any other shoe I’ve bought over the past two years, which says a lot. The best part is that they’re nowhere close to being worn out.

This might be a dumb question but what kind of socks do you wear with these?

i have a pair of clarks that’s very similar to those. once broken in, they are very good on the feet.
i heated mine up and put on some sno seal to water proof them. gave them a darker and slightly shinier look.
these shoes are meant to have character after years of year and still hang with the trends to come.

I like the direct and clutter free nature of your website. This post, I liked especially as I bought the Mojave Desert Boot from Martin + Osa; which look similar generally. At first, I thought they were ok – but they grew on me and now the shoes are developing the contours and ridges which mark extended use. Excited to see how they will change in the time to come.

These boots are awesome! I have a couple pairs myself, in the beeswax, and in dark tan suede. And yes, the older and more worn they are, the better they get. I wipe my beeswax pair (identical to ajchen’s) with a bit of light leather lotion every couple of months or so. It cleans them up a bit, without detracting from the character that constant use gives them. Plus, most importantly, it adds oils to the leather, so the crease marks are not quite so severe, and the color is a bit darker, but without looking greasy – which would happen if I used mink oil or sno-seal. Ideally, I would like to have two pairs of these in beeswax, so, when I get a new pair, I think I will use a heavier oil on my old pair, for a dark greasy look, and then just use the light leather lotion on the new ones. But in any event – these boots rock! Oh, and my suede pair? Those I do absolutely nothing to, by way of care…. and that’s the whole idea! By summer’s end, they will be stained and ready for the trash, and I will be ready to pick up a new pair in beeswax.
