Chainstitching: an update.
Since my last post about chainstitching woes, I’ve thankfully improved. I would say that it took me about 2 weeks (and ruining a pair of my favorite jeans I was practicing on) to finally get it down. Don’t get me wrong… there were days I cursed at the machine out of frustration, but now I’m familiar with every noise and movement that it makes: I can tell when it’s starting to tug and pinch the fabric, and I can hear when it skips a stitch. It’s almost therapeutic to go into the basement and knock out a few hem jobs after a long day’s work – the relaxing hum of the machine and the repetitive work make for a nice respite.
