93 Orchard.
I walk past this storefront several times a week on my way to the bank, and their weathered signage always catches my eye. I’m guessing it might be the original one that Sam Goldstein put up when he opened up shop at 93 Orchard in 1969. The Lower East Side used to be NYC’s bargain district, filled with wholesalers of all kinds – this is one of the last underwear, hosiery and knitwear shops in the area.
