Winter Essentials.
I received a care package from my friends at Woodlands Supply Co. to help combat the chilly months.
Knit beanies, Wigwam socks, tshirts, and jerky.
Schott NYC for Converse.
Johan let a friend of ours at Converse know that I was fiending for these Schott NYC / Converse collaboration shoes – much to my surprise they showed up at the office in my size last week. Converse has done a few iterations of the leather jacket style (see here and here), but the roughout leather and the matte black hardware on this one get two thumbs up from me. Thanks guys.
Hammocks and High Tea.
There are plenty of great items for sale at the Coolhunting for Gap pop up shop (including some ties that we made, but more on that later) – during their opening night reception, these hand towels by Hammocks and High Tea caught my eye and I picked one up. They’re individually printed in Brooklyn on organic cotton and are quite reasonably priced; this one cost only $20.
Fall Boot Lineup.
With Fall quickly approaching, I’m excited to break out my boots that have sat by the wayside during the warmer months. Here are the ones that will be on my feet as soon as the temperature drops a little bit.
These Grenson Fred brogue boots are the newest of the bunch. I bought them this summer during a Tres Bien Shop free shipping promotion – they arrived two days after I placed my order, which impressed me greatly. I actually got to wear these boots once during an unexpected cold snap (70 degrees) two weeks ago – the leather soles were very slippery at first and will need more scuffing up before I can walk with ease. The leather upper is very soft from the start and they’re quite comfortable to walk in. I am looking forward to giving them some more wear soon.
I posted about these Alden 405′s a few weeks back already. I’ve worn them a few times during the summer.
Last summer, Michael Williams (ACL) brought John Estes, head of the Wolverine 1000 Mile project, to visit us at Self Edge New York. At the time I wasn’t too familiar with the collection yet; I just knew that it was forthcoming for the fall. We got to chat for a bit and I learned more about the line – I ended up picking up the Wolverine Ascots in black later that season. I wore these pretty consistently last year and they’ve held up amazingly – I’ve wiped them down once and polished them once since I got them. I like them because they’re the dressiest boots I own and are very versatile.
These Red Wings got me through the harshest climates last winter. I wore them anytime there was snow out as well as every day of my two week trip to France. There was one time my father-in-law’s van was buried in snow that later turned to ice. All I had was a plastic shovel, so I used the boots to stomp through the ice so I could dig the van free. These particular 875′s are a special makeup for David Z that released almost two years ago.
