While there are plenty of things from Restoration Hardware that I am into, this boom sconce modeled after a lamp found in a French architect’s studio really caught my eye. It’s something that works well with RH’s rustic, weathered look but could also flow nicely in a room modeled after a clean, mid-century aesthetic. I am also liking the fact that it’s a wall plug and thus installation would be a breeze (most of their other sconces are hard wired installs), as well as the flexibility of placement that it affords. I imagine it’d go perfectly in our new living room positioned directly above our couch, especially since we don’t have a ceiling fixture already present. Its price, however, is proving to be a preventative factor. The hunt continues.

I caught Miguel (Ghostly) sporting these headphones at Coffee Foundry this week; they intrigued me greatly for obvious reasons. I had heard of the company – AIAIAI – before, and had assumed them to be a lower end earbud collection as their pricepoints were quite affordable. These are not cheap, though, and I wanted to see if the audio quality matched the price. I asked Miguel if I could take them for a quick test drive and he was gracious enough to let me give them a try. I’m no audiophile but I liked what I heard, and the audio cord that disconnects on both sides is an extremely useful feature.

You can scoop up your own pair at the Ghostly online store.

Did I really need a new knife? Not really. Has it made my daily openings of boxes and packages more fun? Definitely. I picked up this Böker Keycom designed by Chad Los Banos in my favorite colorway last week, and it arrived in time for me to efficiently unpack our Flat Head, Sling & Stones and Rin Tanaka shipments today.

It’s a tiny knife – when closed, it measures just over 2″. It’s small enough to carry on your keychain, but I’ve opted to remove the ring and just clip it inside my coin pocket.

I can definitely see the value in investing in a higher-end knife somewhere down the line, but this little guy is sharp and gets the job done. It retails for just $27.50, but if you’re resourceful it can be found for less than $20.

Known largely for their sidecar-centric models, the Ural ST represents one of the first solo rider bikes from the 70-year old Russian manufacturer. There’s a fascinating story behind the company and the bikes they manufactured for the Russian army in WW2, which you can read about on their website. Of course, my preferences always lean towards flat black but the Sahara colorway is quite compelling as well. You can read an in-depth review of the bike at Hell for Leather.

Damasko has just announced that they’re bringing back the DA-36/37 models after discontinuing them for a short time. The DA-36 is my favorite of the German company’s offerings, mostly for its understated appeal but also for the technical innovation that has gone into the watch itself. The matte black dial with hi-contrast arabic numbers is designed to be easily readable, and the yellow second sweep hand is a nice touch too. The case is where the watch really shines: it’s stainless steel, nickel-free, bead-blasted, and ice-hardened to make it extremely scratch-resistant. Like the Sinn 656, it’s got an integrated antimagnetic core and a sapphire crystal with A/R coating on both sides to improve visibility from all angles. Their gaskets provide UV radiation and chemical resistance to protect the watch internals, and their patented crown contains a self-lubricating cell to eliminate friction.
